A Club at the heart of the Community

Extract  from Loddon Reach Magazine January 2016 reproduced with thanks.

As January rolls around, thoughts turn naturally to new starts and challenges… and for all the teams at Shinfield Rangers this is the same. While some things never change with January fixtures, frozen pitches, numb feet, pink cheeks and frosty mornings there is always a renewed hope for all the teams to push for points in the race up the table.

This annual revival of the spirits has recently  been matched overall by Shinfield Rangers being recognised as a FA Charter Standard Community Club. The FA Charter Standard is a kitemark which recognises and rewards high quality levels of provision in club and league football. The kitemark is awarded to clubs and leagues that are well run, sustainable, which place child protection, quality coaching and safety as paramount. Shinfield has been awarded the highest rating a grassroots club can attain.

This is an honour, and the club is duly delighted, but one additional and somewhat unexpected bonus to this award has been the real sense that Shinfield is truly a club at the heart of the local community with local volunteers coming together to give something back, proving the saying that no one can do everything but everyone can do something!

Our dedicated volunteers have changed the mentality of the club from being a small  collection  of individual teams to a genuine  community club.

From team coaches giving up their valuable time to attend FA training courses, parents  running the line, to club officials labouring through the sometimes endless paperwork, Shinfield Rangers stands proud.

Every year the teams are celebrated at the annual Presentation Day and so should the loyal volunteers who together have made the world of difference.

If you have come across Shinfield Rangers FC for the first time, or if you have just moved into the area and want to find out more about the club and whether there are spaces available for your children, please contact us through this website www.shinfieldrangersfc.com. We would be delighted to hear from you. Who knows, you may discover that there is no “I” in team but there is a “U” in volunteer!?
