Lots of Coaches wanted for U7 and U8 teams at Shinfield Rangers YFC

Shinfield Rangers Football Club is one of Berkshire’s oldest established children’s football clubs. For over 40 years we have been working within the community to provide a safe, fun and educational environment for all ages from U7 through to U17. We are an FA Chartered Standard Club affiliated with the Berks and Bucks FA and have been a Reading FC Academy Partner Club for several years, so have close ties with RFC as well as the FA.

Part of our Community Inclusion Strategy involves running tournaments and Football Skills Courses at local schools. Thanks to the brilliant work of Matt Minnis, who has been running the Skills Courses this season, we have up to 23 children from Shinfield Infant School ready to start as new Under 8 players at Shinfield Rangers FC .

Matt, who also works for Reading FC, will soon begin another Skills Course with about 25 children hoping to join our younger, Under 7, age group so we are looking for volunteers to help coach both sets of new teams.

Whilst it would be great to have qualified coaches, we are realistic and understand that not everyone has enough background, knowledge or confidence to consider themselves as football “experts”. But the role is as much about helping children develop as it is about football so if you are interested in helping children have fun and benefit from the exercise as well as being part of a team and community, then we can provide training and support to help you qualify as a coach.

The new teams will meet for training sessions on Monday or Tuesday evenings from about 6 pm with occasional matches on Saturdays.

Please contact us at if you are interested.

Best wishes,

Raymond Barclay
