Reading v Wigan Half time penalty shootout

Our younger players from Shinfield Rangers FC had a wonderful time taking half-time penalties on the pitch at the Madejski stadium for the Reading v Wigan match on Saturday 29th April. This was the final Home match of the season  – a crucial one for Reading to secure a place in the play-offs and a last chance for Wigan to prove themselves and avoid relegation.

The match itself started really well with Reading taking an early lead and Wigan fighting hard, but a Wigan injury about ten minutes later created a 9 minute stoppage that put an end to the momentum, with the rest of the match as variable as the weather has been recently.  Hopefully the Wigan player has a speedy recovery from a broken leg, and hats off to the rest of the Wigan team for keeping up the fight, but in the end the result seemed to be fair on the day.

Our kids were chomping at the bit to get on the pitch so the injury stoppage wasn’t exactly helpful in calming them down, but eventually we were on the pitch and having a truly amazing time.  Its something the boys and girls will remember for the rest of their lives so its a great big THANK YOU to all at Reading FC for inviting us along and looking after us on the day.

Needless to say there are lots of photos and we’d be happy to include any more that you have in our slideshow below.
