With Blue skies and a stiff breeze, there was no chance the Rangers under 12’s were going to take it easy today. With a slightly different formation than usual Rangers put some really slick passing moves together. On more than one occasion Ask, with another great performance, found space inside the box and was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet. With the wind in the first half Rangers were one goal to the good through Will, though some pessimism could be felt on the sidelines, believing that the boys needed more of a cushion to take into the second half to make it comfortable.
Rangers had other ideas though and keeping the ball on the floor continued to press strongly. Joe struck sweetly from the edge of the box to make it 2-0. Devon had a good game at right back, while man of the match Ashmin was outstanding, even when he was pushed to centre forward in the second half, what a season this understated boy is having.
Will added 2 more to take his season total to 41. Liam also added to his total, while it was great to see Ben back in action after a nasty knee injury and today showed no hesitation in front of goal, finishing cooly.
Eversley who played bravely throughout, have a fine goalkeeper and this young side will do well once they keep enjoying the game as they did today. In truth they should have gotten a goal or two, but some last ditch defending denied them.
But the day belonged to Shinfield Rangers, for whom a few played like young Zidanes.
