A really impressive performance today was marred by a nasty injury to Ben. It looks like Ben will be on crutches and out of action for a few weeks. I t was just one of those unfortunate accidents where Ben twisted his knee. It’s a real pity as Ben has recently been performing really well. We all look forward to having him back playing as soon as possible.
Shinfield as they do starting a little slowly, but gradually cranked through the gears and by the second half I elected to sit down with the chairman and watch the game as the boys were looking after the game quite well. Another 3 goals from Will, a nice dipping shot from Liam and Joe wrapped up the 3 points today. Luke came close to added a sixth but ended up in the net himself with us all wondering how the ball stayed out. Ascot to their great credit defended with great heart and on a few occassions with fantastic defending denied the Rangers adding to their total. Especially impressive was their number 14 who showed great composure on the ball, which is nice to see being encouraged. Ethan put in an outstanding performance, making decisive tackles and finding an orange shirt once he had won the ball.
Most encouraging of all it must be said that the boys are really trying to play football, control pass, work hard for team mates.
