And so our difficult and some might even say horrible season continues…
Another thumping by a strong team in challenging conditions (Arctic blast anyone?) did little to lift spirits but there were some glimmers of hope for the meagre home crowd to cling to …
A tough first half saw Shinfield battle joint league leaders Ashridge and the bitter north wind however a pretty full team team sheet meant Will had limited tactical options rather than no options at all. Sam found his shooting boots again after following up his saved penalty. Harley scored his first ever goal for the team and continues to impress with his energy and drive. Will fired home an absolute beauty of a goal – he smashed the ball into the top right hand corner with accuracy and power, Alex was immense between the sticks and despite feeling poorly kept the scoreline down and finally Will gets to find out what the league procedure is for yellow cards !!!
No one can deny we have struggled this season. Hopefully the defiant attitude and determination will continue into upcoming fixtures – the lads need to keep pulling together, working hard and trying to enjoy their football which is easy to say but not always easy to do when you’re being repeatedly overpowered and outplayed.
Courage does not always roar, sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the game, saying “I will try again next week”……..
